HIMSS Europe and Nictiz (National IT Institute for Healthcare in the Netherlands) have signed a collaboration agreement.
HIMSS Europe and Nictiz (National IT Institute for Healthcare in the Netherlands) have signed a collaboration agreement with which HIMSS reaffirms its strong commitment to the Netherlands, being one of the leading countries in Europe in terms of its adoption and use of electronic medical records. The two organisations are joining forces this year for two Dutch initiatives: HIMSS Amsterdam Conference 6-7 November 2014 and the HIMSS Dutch eHealth Exchange Delegation Study trip to HIMSS15 Annual Conference and Exhibition in April 2015 which will create a community platform for Dutch health IT knowledge exchange.
HIMSS in the Dutch Market
According to Christina Roosen, Vice President Marketing and Public Affairs, HIMSS Europe: “Both Nictiz and HIMSS have been working towards improving healthcare through IT for years now. This collaboration reflects HIMSS’ intentions of being present in the Dutch market, which is of great importance to both organizations. We achieve this through collaborating with benchmark institutions in the sector and the organization of training and outreach events. In this case, with a formalized collaboration between Nictiz and HIMSS it will strengthen ties for both of these two important organisations and allows us to reach IT professionals in the healthcare information technologies sector”.
HIMSS is a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organization focused on better health through information technology (IT). HIMSS leads efforts to optimize health engagements and care outcomes using information technology. Founded in 1961, HIMSS encompasses more than 52,000 individuals, of which more than two-thirds work in healthcare provider, governmental and not-for-profit organizations across the globe, plus over 600 corporations and 250 not-for-profit partner organizations, that share this cause. HIMSS, headquartered in Chicago, serves the global health IT community with additional offices in the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Nictiz was created in 2002. Its mission is summarized by “Better Healthcare through Better Information. Through standardization, we promote the optimal use of eHealth / ICT in healthcare. We do this by developing (help) standards, through the promotion and assessment of quality of ICT in healthcare, organizing collaborative platforms and transfer of knowledge and expertise in this area”.
A Greater Degree of Professionalism
According to Nictiz CEO, Lies van Gennip PhD: “We are convinced that the goals of HIMSS and Nictiz on networking and education for the Dutch market have so much in common, that this collaboration will be of great benefit to the Dutch eHealth community”.
HIMSS Holland eHealth Exchange
Earlier this year, HIMSS launched the HIMSS Dutch eHealth Exchange, a community group primarily aimed at Dutch professionals working with healthcare and IT from both public and private sector. With the Netherlands currently holding the highest level of HIMSS EMRAM Stage 6 hospitals in Europe, due to a combination of the market maturity and level of IT expenditure in healthcare, the Netherlands is one of the most attractive markets for healthcare IT in Europe. Given this strong leadership position, HIMSS is delighted to launch this group in the Netherlands which will facilitate networking and education amongst all sectors and also increase the awareness of the Dutch Healthcare IT success stories on an international level.
